Since its foundation in 1993, the PSOC has formed two Orphanages, one for orphan boys and one for orphan girls regardless of caste, creed or religion. BOYS’ ORPHANAGE The Boys’ Orphanage is located in Kakdip and has around 50 boys aged between 4 years to 16 years. Complete care of nutritious meals, free education, school supplies, study materials, medical aid and clothing are provided.
GIRLS’ ORPHANAGE Based at Bakeswar, (24-Parganas South District), the Society in 1999 opened an orphanage exclusively for girls. The Girls’ Orphanage, though has the capacity to occupy 200, has approximately 150 girls residing, aged between 2 years to 16 years.
Free education is also provided where the girls are placed in private schools either English Medium or a Bengali Medium School. School supplies, study materials and uniforms are also given.
With a community-based atmosphere and a well-organized daily schedule, our girls work, play and live together. They are taught to be independent, to be creative, to be individuals, to be part of a big family external to that of the orphanage. Unity, obedience, altruism and unconditional love are overwhelming values that will strike anyone who visits the orphanage. A smile is all that the girls will need from an individual to receive their love tenfold! Upon such fortunate witness one is often left with the feeling – Who is teaching whom?
