In 1992, the Morning Feeding Program was set up to provide nourishment of milk and biscuits to children who are the poorest of the poor, namely homeless children from the nearby slums. The program runs daily at our Headquarters in Kalighat, Kolkata, where vitamin-enriched milk and biscuits are distributed to approximately 200 to 250 children, of both sexes, aged between 6 months to 16 years. This intake of vitamin-enriched milk and biscuits may be the only nourished food the children may have for that day.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM Based at our Headquarters in Kalighat, Kolkata, the Food Distribution Program was set up to provide nourished food, to benefit the poor who are elderly, disabled and handicapped, aged over 40 to 80 plus. Seven items consisting of rice, lentils, flour, soya beans, oil, spices and soap are given to those on the program on alternative Mondays, where 1000 attend. When funds are low the Society ensures that the essential items which form part of the staple diet of rice, lentils and spices are provided. Distribution of these items ensures a daily nourished meal for 15 days.
